Housing Opens Doors Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association
Over 400,000 Ontarians don’t have a safe, secure and affordable place to call home. The Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association (ONPHA) wanted to make more Ontarians aware of and involved in this important issue.
Housing Opens Doors was an interactive installation that went to six cities across Ontario supported by an online and PR outreach that aimed to reposition affordable housing as fundamental to Ontario’s social and economic well being, because housing opens doors to health, employment, education, and so much more. The campaign asked people to ring a doorbell to show their support with each ring symbolizing a family in need of housing, and also a message to policy and decision makers: To get Ontario’s house in order, we need to get Ontarians housed.
Over 77,000 rings of support were gained within the first month. Most importantly, the attention of influential Government officials was gained with the hope to affect permanent policy changes.
